End Of Year Review 2018 with Drival

To mark the end of 2018, The Rave Exchange is travelling the world to reflect on the year of a series of DJs and Producers from every corner of the planet. From summer memories to personal achievements – we dig deep into the past 12 months and discuss future plans of some of our favourite emerging talents.

Artist Name: Drival

Highlight of 2018: Getting my first play on ‘A State Of Trance’ by Armin van Buuren. Something I had dreamt of since the beginning of my career!

Happy memory from this summer: Laughing with my family, friends and girlfriend on the beach. Quality time.

Happy memory from this winter: My first international gig, in Germany. I had a great time playing with Philippe El Sisi, Scott Envy, Mikka L, Baco, B-Train and DFx. What an amazing night!

The most difficult thing you’ve done this year: Sometimes it’s challenging to manage a daytime job, producing, DJ’ing and personal life but I believe I’ve found the balance that brings me happiness. This time last year you were… wishing for the best for 2018!

Your new year’s resolution last year: I cannot recall any specific resolution, to be honest. What I do remember is to be determined to push my limits and do my best in all terms.

How long did it last? I consider it an ongoing and everlasting goal.

Your new year’s resolution this year: A classic one: to get fitter! I would like to do more exercise, and it’s something that every now and then is on my agenda, but eventually, I lack a bit of willpower.

How long is it going to last? Hopefully, it will last all year. Let’s see if this time is the charm!

Your musical goal for 2019: Signing a track to Armada Music would be a nice add-on to the portfolio. Besides, I would like to take part in a festival, although I’m aware it’s hard to get there.

A new skill or hobby you’d like to get into: Maybe I should improve my cooking skills haha! Why not?

Your dream Christmas present: It might sound like a cliché, but I am the happiest man on Earth if I see all my people with joy and good health.

Favourite festive food: Chocolate Nougat. I just cannot get enough of it!

Your NYE plans: Still not clear, but it will be a nice, chilled, quiet one I think.

Public figure of the year: Maybe 2018 hasn’t seen him the spotlight as much as previous years, but Barack Obama is always a public inspiration to me by the way he behaves and treats others.

Movie/TV show of the year: I found ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ sublime. In terms of TV shows, many have made my day, but ‘Daredevil’ and ‘Narcos’ was the top ones for me.

Artist or label to watch in 2019: I would watch Asteroid closely. He’s been keeping up and doing great music.

Song of the year that you were involved with: ‘I Got You’, my production with the talented Jennifer Rene released on AVA and was supported by Armin, Andrew Rayel and many more.

Song of the year that you were not involved with: Andres Sanchez & Claire Willis – ‘These Three Words’. What a vocal uplifting masterpiece.

Something you learned in 2018: Hard work pays off, sooner or later. And I’m not talking about monetary compensation I mean fulfilment. When you are kind and humble with people, you are treated the same.

A prediction about the world in 2019: In this crazy world, predicting is like shooting in the dark. All I ask for is that Skynet doesn’t take over yet 😉

And lastly, your favourite Christmas song: ‘Last Christmas’ by Wham! Never gets old and it’s so iconic. Merry Christmas to you all trance family and I wish you all a bright 2019!
