Behind the scenes of ‘Dance It’ with Naizon

Yassine Mokdad, also known as Naizon, is the Producer/DJ you need to get to know. Growing up with soul music influences from his father back in Brescia, his earliest stages in music were inspired by Barry White, Lionel Ritchie and Elvis Presley. Starting his first productions at the age of 18 using Cubase, he moved on and has shared the decks with artists from all over the mainstream EDM scene. ‘Dance It’ is Naizon’s take on the Tech House scene, seeing him branch into new territories, we caught up with him to discuss his latest release.

So firstly – what gave you the initial idea for this track?

I saw a video that went kind of viral of those people raving to Tech House music and I thought to myself ‘let’s make one song and think about those people, give them something to dance to’. The video and song match perfectly doesn’t it?

What makes you love this song?

I don’t know if I “love it” but for sure the lead gets me up dancing to it.

How did you start the production?

I was trying to create a style that is unique but with the influential style of Chris Lake and Claude VonStroke!

Was there a moment that you knew ‘this is going to be good!’

Yes, pretty much straight away after creating the bass line.

How has the initial reaction to the song been?

Well, I got very good feedback from people around me. My friend says that every time he listens to the song he wants to go to Ibiza, get wasted and dance to it!

Have you got a busy summer schedule?

Yes, very busy working on my brand and trying to create a few epic sounds that will stand out and hopefully go viral!

I have big goals and I work my ass off to achieve that. I literally spend hours a day in the studio to build it up, create new music and learn.

Is this the usual Naizon sound?

No, it’s not my sound. I’ve been a DJ for over 10 years now and I always thought that EDM was my style of music. When I heard the style of Chris Lake and Claude VonStroke, I wanted to try and create something Tech House. This style is not very commercial and for me, this is a challenge, but I enjoy it!

Finally – what’s your favourite bit of the drop?

It might be weird, but my favourite bit is the beginning of the song when the bass and kick opens up. The outro is great too.
