Double Quickfire with Aligee and Phareed

Electro House producers Aligee and Phareed are respected producers in their own right, however when they join forces something magical happens and it’s a match made in heaven. With releases such as ‘Eyes Up’ and more recently ‘Believer’ making their way up the charts, we caught up with the dynamic duo to put them through some quickfire questions. See what they had to say below.

Favourite song of all time?
Aligee: Mine would have to be Axwell, Ingrosso and Angello – Leave the world behind
Phareed: As a music lover, I have so many favourite songs, which depend on mood and genre. But there is one which is always in my heart, even if it’s not EDM related, but I’m happy to listen every time without fail. It’s Azerbaijan’s national song “Sari gelin”.

Biggest inspiration?
Aligee: For me the biggest ones are family and friends.
Phareed: Yeah, I agree with Aligee. My biggest inspiration and support, of course, comes from our family and friends. There are also artists and musicians which we love to listen to, watch and follow. I think that inspiration also may come from every place and every person you visit and meet. Special thanks to my wife who inspires and supports me every single day 🙂

Worst habit?
Aligee: Starting new projects without finishing previous ones!
Phareed: I wouldn’t class Aligee’s as a bad habit for me, I think it’s a normal creative process:).  I usually try to avoid or cut (if have any) bad habits, but one thing I struggle with is waking up in the mornings! I used to set 4-5 alarms for every morning with 5-10-15 mins of interval.

Biggest career achievement?
Aligee: This year was really successful for me, in terms of new releases and official remixes for big artists and major labels.
Phareed: We have seen some good results, but our biggest career achievements are still to come.

DJ’ing or Producing?
Aligee: Producing 1st, then DJing.
Phareed: Producing. I say this because you can create a piece of music from scratch and share your soul with others.

Dream collaboration?
Aligee: Eric Prydz & Swedish House Mafia
Phareed: Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike / Martin Garrix / David Guetta

Best DJ set you have ever seen?
Aligee: Mine would have to be the farewell performance of Swedish House Music at Ultra Music Miami
Phareed: When I think about it, I couldn’t name you one set that I have had any emotional attachment to. I think the standard has been raised so much and so many DJs and producers come up with crazy sets and productions it’s hard to pick one. However, I was seriously impressed with some sets during ADE.

Funny career memory?
Aligee: In 2014, I was playing my set in the club and someone behind me kept trying to pass me their USB flash drive several times and I said without turning back “have patience, let me finish!”. And then I realized that it was Mark Knight, who was a special guest for that event, and it was actually his time to perform. It was funny but at the same time very awkward!
Phareed: Imagine you are in a big music festival and turning on your GoPro to make a video of your live set. Coming back home a few days later in a happy mood that you have enough material for your social media, new music videos etc. And then you realize that you actually recorded only 30 seconds!

Best piece of advice you’ve received?
Aligee:
Luck comes from hard work. Luck happens when hard work and timing and talent intersect.
Phareed: “Life is Balance. In order to get, you have to give”.  If you support, guide and lead others and if you make contributions to their lives, you will reap the best rewards.

What’s up next for Aligee and Phareed?

We have lots of new material on the way including some originals and remixes. Separately we have been working on collaborations with other people but don’t worry we have some new tracks together too! We can’t give too much away at the moment but just keep an eye out!!
