Mizz Martinez, formerly known throughout the dance music world as Eva Martinez, one of the voices behind some of Fragma’s famous classic tracks is a reimagined and reinvigorated version of herself now fully hands on into the production process as she delves into more underground-centric House and Techno, the most recent output being ‘Tantric Tech’ – which arrives this month on her own Sola Music label.
‘Tantric Tech’ serves up a cocktail of blissful gliding string plucks that deliver the listener to a mesmerising crescendo of aural splendour, leaving us in a dreamlike state of hypnosis. In the extended format at 7 and a half minutes, you’re given a full symphony of progression and modulation of synths as a flurry of acid-lines and throwback synths guide you through a tantric meditation of electronic sound that is structured with conviction and creative prowess. Stacked with drum fills and Techno-inspired kicks and surrounding drum kits, the whole track is carefully constructed to be philosophical and absorbing which is exactly the outcome upon listening.
It’s another classy example of the creative spirit that Mizz Martinez holds within and this release takes place alongside a discography that includes a contrasting mix of similarly underground-focused productions and a back-catalogue of commercial electronic dance music classics. No doubt her modern sound is more grown up, minimalistic and raw, but there is still that level of class and precision that has served Eva so well throughout her career in the music industry. With new music, performances and much more to come into the new decade, it’s a case of looking forward to the future for this vivid talent.
