Back in June, Sir Ivan decided he would give back to the community he loves by organising a competition to help DJs and creators who have been affected by the pandemic win some cash and be provided with the opportunity to boost their careers. With $5,000 up for grabs between the top 5 contestants, Sir Ivan also matched his contribution and gave another $5000 to Insomniac’s Rave Recovery fund to help others in the dance community who have also been struggling recently.
The aim of the competition was to mix 18 of Sir Ivan’s best-known hits in the most creative way possible before a series of A-list judges would give their verdict as to who would win the prizes. The panel included Paul Oakenfold, Bassjackers, DJs from Mars, Exodus and Tenisha. With entrants from all over the world, the top 5 winners were Purthlings, DJ Tailik, Donette Gómez, Mourin DJ and Henry Ortiz who won $1,000 each and a promotional package from Matt Caldwell PR to enhance their careers.
The runners up who received a copy of the industry-leading electronic music book ‘The Dance Music Manual’ signed by the author and highly praised industry-wide were Gozu, Paul Ross, Mavvwa, Drop Ground and Tago.
