ZNAS – Feature Interview

TRE sat down with up and coming artist ZNAS this month to talk all things music.

Hi Znas, how are you and what’s going on in your world at the moment?

Hi, I’m very well, thank you, right now there’s all the good news around me: my new EP “F! RE! Is in the third position of the North America Chart of Music Worx, and my previous EP” Where You Go “came to the Sixth place: Every new work that I publish is surpassing the record of the previous work in terms of achieving objectives, position in charts and sales, and that is very positive, I see that there is an improvement of results from one EP to another , and that is what matters, the good results give me confidence and indicate that I am on the right path, that I am strengthening and growing as an artist.

Where are you currently based?

I am Spanish and I live in Spain, in Alcoy more specifically, which is where I was born and where I have my home and my studio. And as for my professional career it is now at its best, because, as I said, I am evolving in a growing and positive way, therefore I am always at my best moment, at the most critical point. It’s an upward trajectory.

How would you describe your sound?

Right now I am between the Melodic Progressive House and the Deep House. But I like to delve into other styles such as Electronic, Chill Out and Melodic Techno to experience new sensations and make music more modern and modern, fused. So in the end my style is like a mixture of all of them, the base would be the first two and then I will incorporate sounds of the others depending on my emotions, of what I want to convey at that moment, of what I feel. I started doing instrumental tracks, and now, on the other hand, all the tracks I do are vowels, which changes the way of producing a lot, because not all voices are used for a specific style or the way in which a song is played, so I have to create the style that fits the voice the most.

Has your style gone through any changes along the years?

Many changes, the musical style of an artist is evolving, is constantly changing, always depends on emotions, and adapting to new musical trends, is always mutating, it is like a constant regeneration.

Who were your influences growing up?

Wow, this question brings me good memories. Undoubtedly the British and Spanish Pop of the 80s, has been the golden age of music, there will be no other equal, all the groups and singers that represent it made me vibrate, there are so many names that I will not give you any because it would be endless the list. And of course what I consider the best musical band of all time: “Earth, Wind & Fire”, an American musical group that emerged in the 70s, with disco-funk musical style, merged with many others, from the I did a research work on his musical career when he was studying high school at the Institute that earned me an outstanding grade.

How did you get involved in the Dance music business?

Well, it was by chance, without weighing it. I got into this kind of music, and one day I decided to drastically change my life completely, change jobs, look for new opportunities, and be happy, dedicate myself to what I was excited to do and had never been able to do, very daring my part; so I studied production and music composition, and from there I got involved in the world of music with the release of my first EP.

Where would you like to see yourself in the months ahead?

Well I would like to see myself at the top of the dance music charts around the world, next to great figures of the music scene, why not, if in the end we are what we think.

Which is your ultimate career dream?

Meet in person Jennifer Lopez. Hahaha. It’s true, it’s serious, but jokes aside, my last dream, because it would be to get a gold or platinum record for the sales of one of my EPs, and win some music award, any.

Who’s inspiring you in 2018?

Without a doubt: Lane 8, Jan Blomqvist, Cubicolor and Rüfüs du Sol. Right now they are my musical reference.

If you could choose, who would you like to collaborate with?

With any of the ones I’ve named in the previous question, of course. And with Solomon Gray and Hannah Reid from London Grammar, I love the voices they have and the way they sing, they’re great. But I really would not have problems collaborating with any artist or group, I do not close doors to anyone, I like to look for new opportunities and also offer them.

Tell us something not many people know about Znas!

That my stage name is my mother’s last name but written backwards. And if I tell you more things then they will have to be about my hobbies or about my private life, because for example how practical Crossfit for years, I do not drink or smoke, and I have a twin brother. I believe that for now I have already revealed enough secrets.
