End Of Year Review 2018 with ZNAS

To mark the end of 2018, The Rave Exchange is travelling the world to reflect on the year of a series of DJs and Producers from every corner of the planet. From summer memories to personal achievements – we dig deep into the past 12 months and discuss future plans of some of our favourite emerging talents.

Artist Name: ZNAS

Highlight of 2018: For me, it has undoubtedly been my determination to become an indie artist. It’s the best thing I have done for my career. I should have done it a long time ago. As they say in my country, I prefer to be alone than badly accompanied.

Happy memory from this summer: A party at the pool with my colleagues from the CrossFit Alcoy Club, it was very fun, we had a great time and we enjoyed it a lot: it was crazy!

Happy memory from this winter: We just started the winter, so the best is yet to come.

The most difficult thing you’ve done this year: Publish 7 consecutive EPs, one per month, each with two different versions. I finished it mentally exhausted but I’ve recovered from it now. This time last year you were… an artist who was part of a record company and today I am an indie artist. A radical change. Belonging to a good label is ideal, but if it cannot be, then it is better to be an independent artist.

Your new year’s resolution last year: When I became an indie artist I decided to release an EP per month until the end of the year to expand my discography quickly and get more notoriety in a short space of time. It cost me a lot of sacrifices, a lot of personal effort and I accumulated a lot of stress, but it was worth it.

How long did it last? They were 7 very intense months until the end of the year, but the important thing is that I achieved my purpose. I proved to myself that I had overcome the challenge.

Your new year’s resolution this year: I’ve been so busy that I haven’t had a chance to think about my resolution for next year but I’m going to release an upcoming mini-EP of three tracks of Melodic Techno style that possibly is going to be titled “World Cyberpunk – Chapter First” and it will be the beginning of a saga of EPs that will highlight the Cyberpunk Culture scene that is starting to bubble away.

How long is it going to last? This EP I want to release in February although it may be delayed to March, so 2 or 3 months at the most.

Your musical goal for 2019: I have proposed to make at least 1 collaboration with a first level artist. I do not know if I will achieve it, but it is a challenge that I have marked. If I get the opportunity I will definitely welcome it with open arms.

A new skill or hobby you’d like to get into: Well, I would like to learn how to drive a motorcycle.

Your dream Christmas present: I have presented myself to two musical production contests to rest a little and to pass the time, so I could relax and heal the accumulated mental fatigue that dragged after the last 7 months of hard work, and I would like to win them!

Favourite festive food: I am a person who eats to live and who does not live to eat. I also diet all year round, so I am very methodical when eating and I do not commit excesses of any kind. I do not feel attracted to food, but, well, on a holiday I would eat rice with lobster, I love it.

Your NYE plans: No special plan. Like any other day, I’ll go to the gym to practice CrossFit. I will dedicate a few hours to work on my next track, and the rest of the day I will take it from rest.

Public figure of the year: For me, without a doubt, Avicii. It is very sad what happened to him, and even more so that it’s a common occurrence with artists. An artist has to give up a comfortable life with his family, friends and partner, and that leads to problems that can lead to tragedy.

Movie/TV show of the year: Game of Thrones, I’m an unconditional fan of the series, it’s a shame that it ends soon.

Artist or label to watch in 2019: To my compatriot the singer Rosalía, who this year has won two Latin Grammy awards for her song “Malamente.” If she remains true to herself, she will become a music diva, a star worldwide. I wish you all the best in the world to make it so.

Song of the year that you were involved with: I think the song “I Just Can’t Get Enough Of You”. Of those that I have released, it is the one that is most heard at this moment.

Song of the year that you were not involved with: Will We Remain? (feat. EL Waves) [Spencer Brown Remix] – Maor Levi & Ilan Bluestone

Something you learned in 2018: The best or the most deserving does not always win, but the one who has the most help and support.

A prediction about the world in 2019: The exit of the United Kingdom of the European Union (Brexit) is going to cause the collapse of the economy of all Europe and the economic collapse of the United Kingdom.

And lastly, your favourite Christmas song: Mariah Carey – All I Want For Christmas Is You.
