Alex Messina prides himself on creating music that merges the past with the future, creating unique productions that help to develop new sounds and atmospheres for his listeners. After falling in love with electronic music, Alex has spent many years teaching himself every frequency and waveform that allows him to produce the crisp sound he has today. We caught up with Alex to find out more about the man behind the music.
Hi Alex, for those who don’t know you, give a brief overview of you and what you do?
I found my musical vocation at the age of 10 when I first held a guitar and fell completely in love. After studying classical and electric guitar, I became an expert in creating melodies and rhythms. Since then I have never stopped studying and now, I put my talent into every production I create. Moreover, throughout this period, I also studied the aspects of music and the connection to its waveforms and its frequencies, thus becoming an expert in the field of audio mastering.
Who are the biggest influences in your music?
Ever since my childhood, I have taken many artists of the 70 / 80/90 of all musical genres as a source of inspiration, artists like Pink Floyd, Super Tramp, Alan Parsons Project, Depesche Mode, Enigma, Art of Noise and Moby. I also love the alternative music of the 90s (Techno / Progressive / Trance / House). I’m in love with sound in all its forms and expressions … it’s my oxygen!
What made you fall in love with electronic dance music?
I’m in love with every kind of music, I don’t have a favourite genre.
Do you have any hobbies other than music?
I would call them passions instead of hobbies ranging from motorcycles, cars, skis, technology … I could stay here and talk about it for hours!
If you could produce any other kind of music, what would it be and why?
My peculiarity is precisely that of not being channelled into a single musical genre. I draw on my personal baggage and my experience that I have acquired in the past 20 years of study in the field of Production. I carry my style in every genre, producing music doesn’t conform to a single genre. I have produced many unreleased tracks, which develops in all musical fields, mixing the sounds of various genres, combining classical instruments with dance rhythm with techno, bass, trance and progressive.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself as an established music producer travelling and playing my music all over the world.
If you could recommend one of your songs that best summarizes you as an artist, what would it be?
Definitely ‘My Self’, released recently, it perfectly describes who I am.
Do you have any exclusives we can get excited about?
I don’t want to anticipate anything; I can only tell you that what you will hear in the future is something totally unique in the world.
