End Of Year Review 2018 with Pierre Reynolds

To mark the end of 2018, The Rave Exchange is travelling the world to reflect on the year of a series of DJs and Producers from every corner of the planet. From summer memories to personal achievements – we dig deep into the past 12 months and discuss future plans of some of our favourite emerging talents.

Artist Name: Pierre Reynolds

Happy memory from this summer: Playing for the first time in Detroit during the Movement Festival. It was huge to see that my brand of house music was accepted and celebrated by the musical connoisseurs of that city.

Happy memory from this winter: Producing/releasing some of my defining tracks of 2018 came while in winter hibernation mode. Many of those tracks were hits landing in the Traxsource Top 100 charts.

The most difficult thing you’ve done this year: Learning how to use some new gear I acquired. I purchased a few Roland synths and keyboards that have taken some time to learn while not slowing my production pace.

This time last year you were… Just starting to really have faith in my production. This time last year I wasn’t buzzing quite as much as I am now but I was seeing the promise of my music.

Your new year’s resolution last year: To incorporate more exercise into my life.

How long did it last? It’s been an off and on struggle to say the least.

Your new year’s resolution this year: Travel more whether for DJ business or personal pleasure

How long is it going to last? I’m hoping for the entire year!

Your musical goal for 2019: To make enough noise to have more promoters see that I am a totally bookable asset in house music. In addition I am focused on raising the bar on my production.

A new skill or hobby you’d like to get into: My degree is in Theology so I would like to get back into reading and studying; keeping up with periodicals journals and published works within the field.

Your dream Christmas present: A big gift certificate from Cheesecake Factory. I really love their food.

Favourite festive food: All the yummy chocolates that come out this time of year. I love chocolate as it is but the season brings on some twists that put my addiction over the top.

Your NYE plans: The wife and I are having friends and family over our home this year.

Public figure of the year: Kanye West. Whether you love him or hate him he speaks his mind!

Movie/TV show of the year: The Ozark series on Netflix. Wow what a show… suspense, intrigue, action etc.

Artist or label to watch in 2019: There’s an up and coming Drum and Bass producer by the name of Substrate out of Virginia that I think shows some great promise.

Song of the year that you were involved with: Lindy House! That track came out of nowhere and is totally different style from what my fans were accustomed to get from me.

Song of the year that you were not involved with: J. Maloe of South Africa put out a track called Glory. Afro House at its finest.

Something you learned in 2018: To trust in the process, hard work pays off and persistence wins the day

A prediction about the world in 2019: This whole democrat versus republican squabble is going to get even more contentious. I’m really not looking forward to all that madness.

And lastly, your favourite Christmas song: Baby Its Cold Outside… of course!
